The Dawn of Bright Days...

Well, it's Memorial Day Weekend, the official start to the summer season.  Despite mass quantities of fog that kept the sun at bay yesterday, there were plenty of people visiting Rockport.  Many are staying the weekend in the hopes for some beach weather and Mother Nature is gracing us with it today.  This morning the air is so pleasantly warm, the sea breeze so soft and comfortable, the sun is already breaking through and for the first time in many days the coast is not shrouded in the heavy fog.  I am looking forward to many smiling faces :-)

I tend to always find a drop of beauty, even on those gray days, and walking to the gallery each day gives me a chance to see what I might miss if I had taken the car.  I saw these beautiful pink blooms yesterday morning and could not resist...

Today as I walked to the gallery, my step was light as I basked in joy of a wonderful day.  Here is what I came across on my way...

I feel truly blessed and am grateful every day to live in such a beautiful place.

And the sun broke free...

On Wednesday, The sun made a morning appearance for the first time in so long... the sunbeams played with the clouds in such a beautiful way I needed to capture it... enjoy the beauty mother nature graced us on this morning :-)

One last look at the heavy fog...

It has been a long cold windy rainy stormy spring.  Many mornings here in Rockport the fog has been thick and the skies so gloomy.. Well, the weather was about to take a turn a couple of days ago and I decided to take a shot to remember just what it was been like for most of this Spring.  it was morning, there was a layer of fog but a promise of brighter skies in the future... maybe it was a bit of camera withdrawal kicking in, I don't know... but I shot this foggy picture, a bit different from the shots I normally take... let me know what you think :-)

Photos of the artists...

I want to thank Kim Rosen of http://www.photosforcures.com/ for coming out to Rockport and taking pictures of the artists during the grand opening festivities.

A pic of me, the proud gallery owner and photographer...
Sharon Lane of LaLane Creations, showing her beautiful handcrafted semi-precious stone jewelry...

And some fun with Suzanne Oullette of Starcross'd Designs, showing her heartfelt one of a kind keepsakes

The Gallery is Now OPEN

What an incredibly fantastic Grand Opening Weekend at the gallery.  It was truly a memorable weekend.  People came that I hadn't seen in decades, Bearskin Neck was a VERY busy place for Mothers Day weekend so I met a ton of new people.  There were a lot of smiles and happy faces and lots of moms enjoying the time with their families in this quaint seaside village of Rockport.  I am truly happy and love life.  Thank you to everyone for being a part of the gallery opening and a big thank you to Sue and Sharon.

Excitement In The Air

It has been a very busy time on Bearskin Neck.  Businesses are starting to open and people are starting to flock to the area now that Spring has arrived.  The flowers are breaking through the ground after the long Winter's sleep and the village of Rockport is coming alive with excitement.  My gallery is on target to open on Mothers Day weekend.  There is a Grand Opening Celebration planned for the entire weekend.  It will be a wonderful start to the first season of Oasis Rockport.  I have also begun scheduling some great photo tours.  The first one is scheduled for May 28th.  Since it is the first ever Oasis Rockport Walking Photo Tour there will be special pricing.  Of course I have been getting out as much as I can to take new pictures.  The one above was taken on a very still day in Rockport Harbor.  I loved the reflections in the calm water and couldn't resist shooting a picture.  I will be the new Staff Photographer for the Rockport Rotary now.  And I am going to be the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce Photographer at the upcoming Egg Hunt at Millbrook Meadow in Rockport.  It has been a very busy time but such a happy one as well.  I spend much of my time smiling.  I have almost everything ready to move into the new gallery space as soon as I get the go ahead.  I am hoping to start moving in by April 24th. Then it will be like a whirlwind there to transform it into Oasis Rockport.  This is a wonderfully happy time in my life and I am grateful for the opportunity to pursue my dreams.  I count my blessings every day.

Super Moon...

This past weekend we were fortunate enough to experience what has been dubbed a "Super Moon"... the moon was closer to the earth than it has been in decades and we will not see such a large and bright moon for decades to come.  So of course I could not pass up the opportunity to capture it with my camera.  Here is one of the shots I took... this was not long before the moon set on Sunday morning....

The moon was setting on one side and I was greeted by a golden sunrise on the other.  It was a beautiful way to start a Sunday morning.

It was a lovely way to welcome the spring.
